Q: Does artificial look fake?

A: Our artificial turf has come a long way from its progenitor, Astro Turf. Our synthetic turf is made of the highest quality yarns and designed to emulate the look and feel of real grass. Many of our customers can’t tell the difference between a real lawn and our synthetic turf.

Q: Does artificial turf trap odor?

A: We have a unique installation process designed to help eliminate odor caused by particles being trapped. It’s common for artificial turf to be installed using sand filler on top. This sand filler will trap odor particles requiring regular deodorization. In all of our installations, we use a synthetic product called Durafill that will trap odor.

Q: How Does Artificial Turf Handle Drainage?

A: Artificial turf is designed so that water drains right through the turf and into the ground soil beneath.

Q: How long does it take to install artificial turf?

A: An average landscaping area might take 2 to 3 days. Each installation is customized so it is hard to say exactly without a site visit. We average approximately 200 square feet (10 x 20 feet) of all-inclusive installation work – ground prep and installation of finished product in a one day time period.

Q: How much water can you save with artificial turf?

A: A lawn of 1800 square feet requires 56,000 gallons of water per year to maintain, which is equivalent to all the yearly water needs of three adults.

Q: Is artificial turf safe for children and pets?

A: You can have a dog AND a beautiful lawn all of the time!! Over 80% of artificial turf customers are dog owners. Liquids drain right through, droppings can be picked up as they would be with regular grass or washed off with a hose, and dogs will not dig through the backing. Muddy paw tracks on your carpet will. Since the grass is porous, the urine will drain through to the ground beneath and will not stain the fibers. The feces can be scooped and discarded and the remainder hosed off without harming the grass in any way. However, normal type turf systems have restricted drainage and limited clean-ability. Kids love it! JW Synthetic Grass is softer and safer than real grass and kids have loads of fun playing on it. Parents love the fact of no more stained pants and scraped knees!

Q: Does artificial turf fade over time?

A: Synthetic grass has built-in UV protection that allows it to hold its color even under the most dramatic conditions. The JW Synthetic Grass warranty covers degradation from ultra violet radiation from the sun for 8 years for landscape turf and 7 years for a putting green surface.

Q: How much will it save in maintenance?

A: Maintenance is simplified to just keeping it clean. You can remove organic materials like leaves from the surface, typically by using a leaf blower or a lawn sweeper. Rakes may be required for removing heavier objects. But the leaf blower is the ideal tool for general upkeep. A stiff, natural bristle broom can be used to “fluff” high traffic areas.

Q: How easy is it to take care of?

A: Artificial turf is the perfect solution for a practically maintenance free lawn. The only tasks you have to perform are the occasional hose down and rake the lawn when leaves and other debris falls on the turf.

Q: Do we remove existing grass and landscaping before installation?

A: We remove all existing grass and landscaping before installing your artificial turf.

Q: Does the grass have a warranty?

A: Yes, our warranty covers fade and excessive wear for 8-10 years depending on the samples. We expect the grass to last for 20-25 years.

Q: How much does the grass cost?

A: That’s a tough one due to all the variables such as geographic region, dealer representation, ground prep requirements, access to the area, size of the job, etc. Your best bet is to contact JW Synthetic Grass. We will be able to provide a site survey and give you accurate answers to all your questions and specific recommendations on the options that will serve you best for years to come. Q: How hot does the grass get?

A: The grass does not stay as cool as natural grass which has water running through it. It will get very hot to the touch during the summer time. We will explain this to you before purchase, and we are not responsible if you get burned by the product. You may have to hose it down before playing on it during hot days.

Q: Will the grass catch fire?

A: The grass is non-flammable.

Since the grass has no organic value, the bugs have nothing to feed on and therefore will move on to a yard with real grass. Fire ants have a hard time coming up through the drainage holes and will generally find an area outside the grass that has less resistance.
